9/19/2005 ~ Nevertheless

... "Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men." ~ Luke 5:10
└─> All are called to be fishers of men.

The word of God is effective for those that listen or can hear and obey.

... the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, ... ~ Luke 5:1

You do not see people today clamoring up
or pressing anxiously to hear the word of God.
More in fact, stadiums fill by the 1000s to rock and sporting events.
People look to entertainers, movie stars, etc. to hear what they say.
~ God's word is not so popular.

... He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. ~ Luke 5:3

"... nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net." ~ Luke 5:5

~ Called to fish at the wrong time of day,
Today we are also called to let our nets down
contrary to our experience.

Our greatest strength is bravery and courage in the face of insincerity.

If a man will listen and follow Jesus,
though he may have experienced failure,
he can experience tremendous success.

... "A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, ... ~ Mark 6:3-4
└─> A carpenter told a fisherman how to fish?

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen.
~ Hebrews 11:1

~ They had not seen fish.
Nevertheless is the word that allows entrance into implicit faith.

Peter had to put aside His wisdom in experience and hold faith.
It is a higher way less traveled.

  1. God's commands are contrary
      to the wisdom of man.

  2. God's commands are consistent
      since antiquity.

  3. When God's commands are obeyed
      great and tremendous things
      will be successfully accomplished.

Those who do not trust God hold not His Lve.

Those that have it know it and eternally, humbly, thank Him.

Many profess belief in God but prefer not to speak of Him
in the shadows of their cowering and desire
to remain politically or socially popular.

Belief in God is not the same as trust in God.
Nevertheless, it is faith that consummates trust.

We cannot hold God close in the disobedience of man.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,... ~ Proverbs 1:7

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, ... ~ Proverbs 9:10

We need to open up our hearts to God's word
in order to understand the revealing of His will through His word.

God is love and more importantly: a God enacting justice.
He created us and deserves our obedience.

Do we blame God for the actions of a free man?
Life praises or criticizes the choices we make.
God waits and listens for He hath said it.
