6/22/2008 ~ Respect For God


He is Greater and Above Any of Us

┌─> It should be rooted in us.                                      
... as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts,
as in your ignorance; but as He who called you ... ~ 1st Peter 1:13-16

It means taking God seriously.

... "Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me ..." ~ Numbers 20:8-12

We can’t be indifferent – many people just don’t care.
                   Caring has become impractical, irrelevant. <─┘
     Out of my way! <─┘                                       └─> Chivalry lost.
BEWARE
For our God is a consuming fire. ~ Hebrews 12:29

If we stood before God, we would be smitten with shame.

... above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, ...
~ Philippians 2:9-11

"Therefore take heed how you hear. ..." ~ Luke 8:18

                                                                        ┌─> Fantasy okay.
We can’t accommodate Him to us.
                               └─> Water down God?

We are the ones that need to make the adjustment.

~ He is that He is ~

... because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God,
nor were thankful, ... ~ Romans 1:21

God is God whether we prefer it or not.
We can’t make our own God, and those that do fall from grace.

He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. ~ 1st John 4:8

... who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped
and served the creature rather than the Creator, ... ~ Romans 1:25
└─> God in their image.               

 We can’t confine God to one compartment of our lives.
God is all encompassing and multifaceted.

... three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word,
and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. ... ~ 1st John 5:7-8

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, ...
~ John 1:14

And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through Him. ~ Colossians 3:17

God is concerned with all we do; how we think and feel.

"He who is not with Me is against Me,
and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad." ~ Matthew 12:30

God’s will is never irrelevant. He is the holder of the universe.

... "Lord, what do You want me to do?" ... ~ Acts 9:4-6

How do we submit to God and when?
We can’t mock God; only humble hearts can approach Him.

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows,
that he will also reap. ... ~ Galatians 6:7-8

The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, ...
~ Psalm 14:1-2

... There is no fear of God before his eyes. For he flatters himself
in his own eyes, ... ~ Psalm 36:1-4

One who turns away his ear from hearing the law,
Even his prayer is an abomination. ~ Proverbs 28:9

His will can not be defiled.
By His grace an offering has been made for our return to Him.
The Lord will put obstacles in our lives to see how serious we are.

... "Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them farewell
who are at my house." ... ~ Luke 9:57-62

God waits while our time is so very limited.

... gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope ...
~ 1st Peter 1:13

... serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. ~ Hebrews 12:28

If you don’t properly respect God,
you won’t be able to respect yourself.
