1/16/2011 ~ Can A Man Be Religious And Wrong?


Jesus did not come to make us religious.

What is Religion? ~
Belief – Higher Power
Participate – rite or act

"... those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." ~ John 4:23-24

Appearance does not necessarily mean correctness.

"... according to the strictest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee. ..."
Acts 26:1-6


Paul went through the procedures of the Law of Moses.
└─> He was in error of what God wanted.                               


"... be holy in all your conduct, because it is written,
"Be holy, for I am holy." ~ 1st Peter 1:13-16


To be what God calls us all to be, Christ must be in us.
Our character has to be pure in developing for Him.


Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: ... ~ James 1:27

We need to care for others to please God.

... in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself,
not discerning the Lord's body. ~ 1st Corinthians 11:29


If errors are made, we need the strength to make corrections for God.

... if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received,
let him be accursed. ~ Galatians 1:6-9


It is important what we practice with eternal life in view.

"If you love Me, keep My commandments." ~ John 14:15

"You are the salt of the earth; ..." ~ Matthew 5:13

God calls us to practice His truths.
People need to see our religion in us.


... continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is,
the fruit of our lips, ... ~ Hebrews 13:15-16


Give God the credit for all that you do.

"... they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
~ Matthew 5:14-16


"... But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny
before My Father who is in heaven." ~ Matthew 10:32-33


God does not want closet Christians.
Do you submit to the words of God?


Submission = Obedience

Daily conduct shows our religion.
Many claim religion is our social problem or plague, for wars and hate.
It would appear atheism and or humanism is on the increase.


The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." ... ~ Psalms 14:1-2

Generally, people are religious because of conscience.
~ It is how God made us.

We need something Greater than ourselves or corrupt cultures.


"... I perceive that in all things you are very religious; ..." Acts 17:22

Religiousness does not make rightness.

... Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man's all. ...
~ Ecclesiastes 12:13-14


... what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God? ~ Micah 6:8


"... considering the objects of your worship, ..." ~ Acts 17:23
                  
Some think any God will do.


"God, who made the world and everything in it, ..." ~ Acts 17:24-25

God is who made us, NOT that we made Him.

"... I, even I, am the Lord, And besides Me there is no savior." ~ Isaiah 43:10-11

Our God is through a resurrected Jesus who gives light to all mankind.

... in Christ all shall be made alive. ... ~ 1st Corinthians 15:12-23

... let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.
... ~ Romans 13:12-14


There will be those that hate for the sheer sake of hating.
Agony has led many a soul to blame others, those lacking introspection.
To follow the religion of God you will pursue harmony and love.
The Gospel was sent to both Jews and Gentiles, - ALL PEOPLE.


... if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you,
So that you incline your ear ... Proverbs 2:1-5


... Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; ...
Proverbs 3:1-7


To know, one has to hear truth to be correct.

Do you pursue His truth
or follow man’s adjustments?
