SERMON MENU SELECTIONS

3/5/2006 ~ Ever Have One of Those Days?


Have you had to watch someone die?
Did a funeral give you the blues or possibly two?
All face multiple decisions and emotions daily.
Often, circumstances demand more of us, not less.

None have the fortitude of Jesus.


Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and told Him ... ~ Mark 6:30

Then Jesus hears His cousin John was beheaded.

... beheaded him in prison, brought his head on a platter, ... ~ Mark 6:26-30
                             └─> Jesus didn't call in sick upon hearing this.

"... whom I hear such things?" So he sought to see Him. ~ Luke 9:7-9

Jesus hears Herod is looking for Him.

And He said to them, "Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place ...
~ Mark 6:31-32


But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; ... ~ Luke 9:11

He was weary but had compassion.

... saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them, ...
~ Mark 6:33-34


Jesus was tirelessly teaching the word of God.

               With women and children, 20-25 thousand? <─┐
... Now those who had eaten the loaves were about five thousand men. ...
~ Mark 6:35-45


┌─> I am the food of life.
"For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed."
~ John 6:55


... about to come and take Him by force to make Him king, He departed ...
~ John 6:15


He then wanted to be alone.

And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray.
~ Mark 6:46


Ever wish that you were not there for the sheer terror?

... Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. ... ~ Matthew 14:23-26
A raging storm had arisen. <─┘                 

... "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" ~ Matthew 14:27-31

As long as Peter's focus was on Jesus, he could walk on water,
however when he looked away ... he began to sink.


... they had not understood about the loaves,
because their heart was hardened. ~ Mark 6:51-52


They could not see or fathom the spiritual truth of His coming.

... boat came and worshiped Him, saying, "Truly You are the Son of God."
~ Matthew 14:32-33


... And as many as touched Him were made well. ~ Mark 6:53-56

Jesus worked overtime on this day.

Jesus' apostle's witnessed sorrow, joy, confusion, doubt, elation,
desperation, deliriousness, and adoration all in this one day

LIFE IN A DAY OF JESUS.
  1. John the Baptist Beheaded.
  2. Searching for solitude.
  3. Teach, Feed, and Heal the masses.
  4. Finally go to pray.
  5. Disciples disbelief walking on water.
  6. Jesus is worshiped as the Son of God.
  7. More came begging for His help.

~ Just when you think you've had enough, expect more ~

We can depend on Jesus.
Prayer prepares us for our burdens.
How much have you done in advance?
When in need look to heaven as Jesus did.
