SERMON MENU SELECTIONS

11/12/2006 ~ Three R's Found in Jesus


We all know the basics of Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic;
there are also spiritual basics, righteousness, redemption,
and resurrection.
All need these for salvation.

... My Father has been working until now, and I have been working." ...
~ John 5:1-30

We need to confess these by faith rather than by sight when it comes.

1. RIGHTEOUSNESS
2. RESURECTION
3. REDEMPTION

1. RIGHTEOUSNESS

... for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, .... ~ Romans 3:23

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone
who believes. ... ~ Romans 10:4-10

Many believe anything goes; we have made sin palatable.

Safe sex = Safe fornication

... Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God - and righteousness
and sanctification and redemption - ... ~ 1st Corinthians 1:29-30

... He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake. ~ Psalm 23:3

Only through God comes righteousness.

... God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. ~ 1st John 1:5

→ By our own merits we are all untrustworthy.

... knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, ...
~ 1st Peter 1:18-19

Jesus is the life, and He lived God’s righteousness while on the earth.

2. RESURECTION     

"... believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come
into judgment, but has passed from death into life." ~ John 5:24

Jesus was condemned for doing God’s will by the power of God.

"... the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God;
and those who hear will live." ~ John 5:25
                                                └─> Spiritual resurection.

Each of us make the choice to take or reject life from God.

How long, O you sons of men, Will you turn my glory to shame? ...
~ Psalm 4:2

We have life in Him.

... "This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, ..."
~ John 11:4

... "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though
he may die, he shall live." ~ John 11:25

... "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father
except through Me." ~ John 14:6

Jesus is all about life.
God will raise you up any day of the week.
The focus is goodness can occur at all times.

... all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth - those
who have done good, to the resurrection of life, ... ~ John 5:26-29

By sight, resurrection will come to all.

Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them
in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. ... ~ 1st Thessalonians 4:17

One chooses between the light or darkness.

... "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk
in darkness, but have the light of life." ~ John 8:12

3. REDEMPTION       

... knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, ...
~ 1st Peter 1:18-19

Back in to a relationship with God.

... "See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing
come upon you." ~ John 5:14

"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes
in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, ..." ~ John 5:24

It’s all about a second chance. It cost the blood of Jesus.

God gave us these three things.

= 		  GOODNESS
  ALIVE AFTER DEATH  
  DELIVERANCE

Would we forfeit this?
Would we not seize the moment?

"Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth,
why do you not believe Me?" ~ John 8:46
