11/26/2006 ~ Two Destinies


Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things,
and they derided Him. ... ~ Luke 16:14-31

                         └─> They thumbed their noses at Jesus.

... the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees,
they gathered together. ... ~ Matthew 22:34-40


The rich man had an opportunity to be good.
It is clear that if we help our neighbor we help ourselves.
They chose poorly.


" '... And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines
the commandments of men.' " ~ Matthew 15:9


If we can not find the teachings in scripture, it is doctrine from man.

"... But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me
is taught by the commandment of men, ..." ~ Isaiah 29:13


One is saved, and One is lost.
  Abraham

GREAT
GULF
   "IMPASSABLE"   
   Rich Man   

"... many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac,
and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven." ~ Matthew 8:11


Many will come asking yet ~ “I do not know you.”

'... I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me,
all you workers of iniquity.' ~ Luke 13:25-28


And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into
the lake of fire. ~ Revelation 20:15


... a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. ~ 2nd Corinthians 5:1
                                         └─> There is somewhere after the material.

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works
is dead also. ~ James 2:26


Then the dust will return to the earth as it was,
And the spirit will return to God who gave it. ~ Ecclesiastes 12:7


The parable of the rich man teaches no second chances after death.

" '... so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot,
nor can those from there pass to us.' " ~ Luke 16:23-26


Today is the time, NOW is the time.

... I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him
to my father's house, ... ~ Luke 16:27-29


Many claim God speaks to them but it is just not so!
Scripture states God’s word has been delivered for all to review.
God waits patiently to see who will hear Him.


... the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. ~ Jude 1:3

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God
to salvation for everyone who believes, ... ~ Romans 1:16


We are in the law of liberty.

... the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is
not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, ... ~ James 1:25


To show partiality is not good, Because for a piece of bread
a man will transgress. ~ Proverbs 28:21


For there is no partiality with God. ~ Romans 2:11

... wisdom that is from above is first pure, ... without partiality ...
~ James 3:17


... "In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality." ~ Acts 10:34

The will of God is plain.

... He who believes and is baptized will be saved; ... ~ Mark 16:15-16

... not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, ...
~ Colossians 1:23


... between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, ... ~ Luke 16:26
No such place as purgatory. <─┘                    

This teaches us about the foolishness of trusting riches.


... some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, ...
~ 1st Timothy 6:9-10


┌─> Teaches the awfulness of being lost; alone with no help.                  
... cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, ... ~ Luke 16:24

                 ┌─> All séances are pure fantasy.
"... neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead."
~ Luke 16:31


The Greeks sought after wisdom,
The Jews sought for a sign.         
Jesus gave them both and it was rejected.


The haters of the Lord would pretend submission to Him,
But their fate would endure forever. ~ Psalm 81:15


Do we choose to base our spirituality on
Reality or Fantasy?
