10/15/2006 ~ True Worship

Each individual is responsible to understand
and have confidence in God’s word.

~ What does it mean to worship God?
Our object is to worship God acceptably in a way that would please Him.
Knowing true worship is more valuable than "feeling" worship.

"... 'You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.' "
~ Matthew 4:8-10

TRUE WORSHIP
Worshipping
the One
True God
True Desire
to
Worship God
Truly Pleases
God's Will
Worship In Spirit And Truth

You shall have no other gods before Me. ~ Deuteronomy 5:7

Worship shall come from the INNERMOST heart.

"My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work." ...
~ John 4:31-34

Our appetite or motivation should be to please God; of a spiritual nature.
You can’t serve God if you don’t truly desire Him.
Actions of heart are more important than motions of worship.

"... In the volume of the book it is written of Me - To do Your will, O God."
~ Hebrews 10:5-7

Jesus came to do God’s will, not man’s.
└─> This was His motivation, where is yours?

"... this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God,
and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. ..." ~ John 17:1-5

Glorifying God is simple and clean and not from the creativity of man.
- Jesus glorified God by doing what God wanted.
If we look for those things that please us, who do we worship?
~ We would be worshipping ourselves and not God. <─┘

"... you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul,
with all your mind, and with all your strength. ..." ~ Mark 12:30

Desire includes the word ALL.

"... Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven." ~ Matthew 6:9-10

Our greatest desire should be for God’s will to be done.

... do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind, ... ~ Romans 12:1-2

ACCEPTABLE = PLEASES HIM

Is it our desire to do what is acceptable to God?

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need
to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. ~ 2nd Timothy 2:15

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine,
for reproof, for correction, for instruction, ... ~ 2nd Timothy 3:16-17

~ We find it in Scripture.

... true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for
the Father is seeking such to worship Him. ... ~ John 4:23-24

VAIN WORSHIP
Worshipping
Themselves
Seeking to
Please Themselves
Content in
Self Fulfillment
Worship In Self And Lies

"And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. ..."
~ Matthew 6:7

"... 'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me
with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. ...' " ~ Matthew 15:6-9

" '... And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.' " ~ Mark 7:6-8

Satisfied in the gratification of human desires?
~ Is worship only on Sunday?
Do you desire piped organs, drums or guitars, perhaps a separated choir?
Do you look for statues, stained glass and glittering objects for worship?
Do you use church for social events such as sports or eatery pleasures?
~ False worship can be deceptive, acceptable in the eyes of man;
Not part of God’s word.

Worship of God is all the time and contentment is
satisfaction in doing God’s will found in His word.

"... let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me."
~ Luke 9:23

... pray without ceasing, ... ~ 1st Thessalonians 5:17

"He who believes and is baptized will be saved;
but he who does not believe will be condemned." ~ Mark 16:16

Do you fulfill what God wants us to do?
Finding what the Lord wants is simple, plain, and understandable.
Do you search to understand (follow) man or God in your heart?

     ● Do you worship in Spirit and Truth
OR
● Do you worship in Self and Lies?
