?/?/2021 ~ Presidential Quotes 34

Darkness has nothing to fade upon.
History stares at those who choose to see it.

40. Ronald Reagan (1981-1989)

“I believe no challenge is more important to the character of
America than restoring the right to life to all human beings.”

“We will never recognize the true value of our own
lives until we affirm the value in the life of others.”

“I'm convinced, more than ever, that man finds liberation only when
he binds himself to God and commits himself to his fellow man.”

Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. ~ Galatians 6:2

“We have God's promise that what we give will be given back many times
over, so let us go forth from here and rekindle the fire of our faith. Let our
wisdom be vindicated by our deeds. We are told in II Timothy that when
our work is done, we can say, 'We have fought the good fight. We have
finished the race. We have kept the faith.' This is an evidence of it.”

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
~ 2nd Timothy 4:7

“For centuries the Bible's emphasis on compassion and love for our
neighbor has inspired institutional and governmental expressions
of benevolent outreach such as private charity, the establishment
of schools and hospitals, and the abolition of slavery.”

“My mother told me that everything in life happened for a purpose. She
said all things were part of God's plan, even the most disheartening
setbacks, and in the end, everything worked out for the best.”

“I was raised to believe that God has a plan for everyone and
that seemingly random twists of fate are all a part of His plan.”

Commit your works to the LORD, And your thoughts will be established.
~ Proverbs 16:3

“I have recently been told that I am one of the millions of Americans
who will be afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease. … I now begin the journey
that will lead me into the sunset of my life. I know that for America
there will always be a bright dawn ahead.”

“Don't give up on your ideals. Don't compromise. Don't turn
to expediency. And for heaven's sake . . . don't get cynical.”

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season
we shall reap if we do not lose heart. ~ Galatians 6:9

“If we listen to our hearts, believe in ourselves,
and pull together, nothing can stand in our way.”

“Live simply, love generously, care deeply,
speak kindly, leave the rest to God.”

“I miss going to church, but I think the Lord understands.”

“There is no limit to the amount of good you
can do if you don’t care who gets the credit.”

“We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.”

“You won’t get gun control by disarming law-abiding citizens. There’s only
one way to get real gun control: Disarm the thugs and the criminals, lock
them up and if you don’t actually throw away the key, at least lose it for a
long time …. It’s a nasty truth, but those who seek to inflict harm are not
fazed by gun controllers. I happen to know this from personal experience,”

“Under no pretext should arms be surrendered; any attempt
to disarm the people must be stopped, by force if necessary.”

"... and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one."
~ Luke 22:36

“There are no easy answers, but there are simple answers.
We must have the courage to do what we know is morally right.”

“All great change in America begins at the dinner table.”

... and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the
good of all his labor-it is the gift of God. ~ Ecclesiastes 3:12-13

“At the root of everything that we’re trying to accomplish is the belief that
America has a mission. We are a nation of freedom, living under God,
believing all citizens must have the opportunity to grow, create wealth,
and build a better life for those who follow. If we live up to those moral
values, we can keep the American dream alive for our children and our
grandchildren, and America will remain mankind’s best hope.”

Life is a connection with God and the spirit within.
God’s compassion to bring forth life independent as in His image
is the one greatest acts of giving knowable. Nobility is found in
seeking God where human shortcomings shove good natures to the
background. Despair and discontent are the spokes that drive the
wheels of defiance against those who plot injustice, and persecute
the innocent. Man against man is not the call from God to unite
in brotherhood. Without common ideals encouraging all, chaos
avalanches upon our children’s children as warring increases.
Where the godless are celebrated, lives are shortened under
forfeited truth. It is said truth is subjective, yet this is not given
by God, as it is a contrivance of man excusing all lies, denying
the preeminence of God’s own truths above mans. Catering to the
crowd over God condemns all who fall into this misconception.

Ability to stand alone declares courage of character
Without value of life for others we disintegrate
Liberation of spirit only comes by faith in God
Promises of untold fortunes will come to the faithful
Nobility is the challenge in the falling crowd of man
Purpose of heart can come sometimes agonizingly
God’s perfect plan includes enduring suffering
Memory is not as important as honest devotion
When love is best simple, God takes care of the rest
Human limitations afflict the lot of us
As time passes, unity has no personal identity
Courage involves moral decisions loyal to God
Intimacy while dining is man greatest pleasure
Without God, no freedom will aspire to be

All cry for leadership as anarchy invades our unity

41. George H. W. Bush (1989-1993)

“I have just repeated word for word the oath taken by George Washington
200 years ago, and the Bible on which I placed my hand is the Bible on
which he placed his. It is right that the memory of Washington be with
us today, not only because this is our Bicentennial Inauguration,
but because Washington remains the Father of our Country.”

"Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father,
He who is in heaven." ~ Matthew 23:9

“My first act as president is a prayer. I ask you to bow your heads:
Heavenly Father, we bow our heads and thank You for Your love.
Accept our thanks for the peace that yields this day and the shared faith
that makes its continuance likely. Make us strong to do Your work, willing
to head and hear Your will, and write on our hearts these words: 'Use
power to help people.' For we know that we are given power, not to
advance our own purposes, nor to make a great show in the world,
nor a name. There is but one just use of power, and it is to
serve people. Help us to remember it Lord, Amen.”

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another,
as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. ~ 1st Peter 4:10

“Abraham Lincoln truly inspired me. It wasn’t just the freeing of the slaves,
he kept the Union together. Some people even forget that today. What I
think inspired me was the fact that in spite of being the president of
the United States he retained a certain down-to-earth quality.
He never got to be a big shot, and he cared about people.”

“You cannot be President of the United States if you don't have faith.
Remember Lincoln, going to his knees in times of trial
in the Civil War and all that stuff.”

“Lincoln said you cannot be President without spending some time on
your knees. I have repeated that and a bunch of Atheists got all over me.
Wait a minute. Does that mean that you cannot be President
if you are an Atheist? I say yea that does mean that.”

“No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor
should they be considered as patriots. This is one nation under God.”

“Atheists are not Americans.”

... they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? So we see
that they could not enter in because of unbelief. ~ Hebrews 3:15-19

“I believe with all my heart that one cannot be America's president
without a belief in God, without the strength that your faith gives you.”

“Any definition of a successful life must include service to others.”

“We can find meaning and reward by serving some higher purpose
than ourselves, a shining purpose, the illumination of a Thousand
Points of Light...We all have something to give.”

“There is a God and He is good, and his love, while free,
has a self imposed cost: We must be good to one another.”

“And I'm not a student of religion, but I don't find anything in what
the principal teachings of Islam that put us in contradiction at all. In fact,
the principles are the same as what-we have a diverse religious culture.
But it's kindness, it's be good to your neighbor, it's love, and it's take
care of children. It's all these things that-so there's no anti-Islam.”

“Our God is a forgiving God.”

... bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a
complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
... ~ Colossians 3:11-14

Endurance is part of the unity that bonds souls
The elect of God put on:
                     ● Tender mercies
                     ● Kindness
                     ● Humility
                     ● Meekness
                     ● Longsuffering
                     ● Bearing with one another
                     ● Forgiving one another
                     ● Love the bond of perfection

“Education is not complete unless we teach our children not only
how to read and write but the difference between right and wrong.”

“Something’s wrong when kids can get birth control
in school but can’t say prayer in school.”

“Not all Americans are living the American dream by a long shot.
Many can't even imagine it. There are impoverished Americans, the
poor and the homeless, the hungry and the hopeless, many unable to
read and write. There are Americans gone astray, the kids dragged down
by drugs, the shattered families, the teenage mothers struggling to cope.
Then there are Americans uneasy, troubled and bewildered
by the dizzying pace of change.”

I remember when I was shot down in that war.
I remember how terrified I was. And it made me feel close
to my family, and to God, and to life, and I was scared.

'Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will
strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you ...' ~ Isaiah 41:10

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,
But fools despise wisdom and instruction. ~ Proverbs 1:7

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the
knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. ~ Proverbs 9:10

“I have a form of Parkinson's disease, which I don't like. My legs
don't move when my brain tells them to. It's very frustrating.”

“But the biggest thing that has happened in the world in my life,
in our lives, is this: By the grace of God, America won the Cold War.”

This nation was so conceived under faith in God’s own touch
and words of universal truth. It was never intended to exalt bigotry
over decency or the godless over the godly. These initial ideals have
been challenged from the very inception, where greed and envy
have derailed countless trains of justice, too often snuffing out the
beacons of hope. Honorable men of great words often fall short of
what they speak. Ignorance has justified humanism or tolerance with
sinfulness, regarding divergence away from God’s own purpose, for
us to know Him supremely, over man's manipulations to dominate.
Tyrants demand allegiance rather than having those actually
submissive to God’s will in the open. The true worth of a soul, no
matter stature, finds service to others as their eternal legacy for all
ages to come; A mother caring for child, a public servant assisting
the needy, a father sharing the advice of life’s wisdom, many have
lifted the collective spirit of man across the eons. Pray we fight
together against the foes of light, life given to each by God.

Who battle together for a cause seal eternal bonds
Great men inspire those that rise after
Prayer should be first and not last attended to
On the dirt is where most leaders command
Faith is bowing to God’s supremacy
Without a godly leader hope is lost in unfaithfulness
Without God no human endeavor can be fruitful
Success has no worth without service to others
His light in us offers something to someone else
The cost of freedom is to care for one another
Shame on our times when wrong is taught as right
Fear fully intensifies if loved one’s share its’ assault
All life is destined for return to Him no matter cause
The only cold war is against God

History is fickle riding the waves of deception and opinion

No one laughs when evil grins
against what unites us under God

Darkness looms where the song is bottomless
