Darkness cast a shadow on all it touches.
Those blessed with true wisdom lift all souls.

24. Grover Cleveland (1893-1897)

“I know there is a Supreme Being who rules the affairs of men
and whose goodness and mercy have always followed the American
people, and I know He will not turn from us now if we humbly
and reverently seek His powerful aid.”

... God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted
beyond what you are able, ... ~ 1st Corinthians 10:13

“The friendliness and charity of our countrymen can always be relied upon
to relieve their fellow citizens in misfortune. This has been repeatedly and
quite lately demonstrated. Federal aid in such cases encourages the
expectation of paternal care on the part of the Government and weakens
the sturdiness of our national character, while it prevents the indulgence
among our people of that kindly sentiment and conduct which
strengthens the bonds of a common brotherhood.”

... keep oneself unspotted from the world. ~ James 1:27

“I know that human prejudice - especially that growing out
of race and religion - is cruelly inveterate and lasting.”

"Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment."
~ John 7:24

... As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do
not seek My own will but the will of the Father ... ~ John 5:30

It is not good to show partiality to the wicked, Or to overthrow
the righteous in judgment. ~ Proverbs 18:5

“A government for the people must depend for its success
on the intelligence, the morality, the justice, and the interest
of the people themselves.”

Only communities in agreement find victory
 Government success depends on:
          ● Intelligence ≠ Ignorance
          ● Morality ≠ Wickedness
          ● Justice ≠ Lies
          ● Interest of the people ≠ Loss

“We will not forget that Liberty has made her home here, nor shall her
chosen altar be neglected...A stream of light shall pierce the darkness of
ignorance and mans oppression until Liberty enlightens the world.”

“Above all, tell the truth.”

“These are days of special perplexity and depression,
and the path of public duty is unusually rugged.”

“Communism is a hateful thing and a menace to peace and
organized government; but the communism of combined wealth
and capital, the outgrowth of overweening cupidity and selfishness,
which insidiously undermines the justice and integrity of free
institutions, is not less dangerous than the communism of
oppressed poverty and toil, which, exasperated by injustice
and discontent, attacks with wild disorder the citadel of rule.”

“As we view the achievements of aggregated capital, we discover the
existence of trusts, combinations, and monopolies, while the citizen is
struggling far in the rear or is trampled to death beneath an iron heel.

Corporations, which should be the carefully constrained
creatures of the law and the servants of the people,
are fast becoming the people's masters.”

... doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men, ... ~ Ephesians 6:7-9

“The ship of democracy, which has weathered all storms,
may sink through the mutiny of those on board.”

... when a land sins against Me by persistent unfaithfulness, I will stretch out
My hand against it; I will cut off its supply of bread, ... ~ Ezekiel 14:13-14

25. William McKinley (1897-1901)

Anger has never delivered a community of settled souls.

“That's all a man can hope for during his lifetime - to set an example
- and when he is dead, to be an inspiration for history.”

... Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, Who delights greatly in His
commandments. His descendants will be mighty on earth; ... ~ Psalms 112:1-2

“I went down on my knees and prayed to Almighty God for light and
guidance and one night late it came to me this way. We could not leave
(the Philippines) to themselves - they were unfit for self-government-and
they would soon have anarchy and misrule over there worse than Spain's
was. There was nothing left for us to do but take them all and educate
the Filipinos, and uplift and Christianize them.”

... "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. ..."
~ Mark 16:15-16

“Our faith teaches that there is no safer reliance than upon the God of our
fathers who has so singularly favored the American people in every
national trial and who will not forsake us so long as we obey His
commandments and walk humbly in His footsteps.”

“The more profoundly we study this wonderful Book, and the more
closely we observe its divine precepts, the better citizens we will
become and the higher will be our destiny as a nation.”

“Our earnest prayer is that God will graciously vouchsafe prosperity,
happiness, and peace to all our neighbors, and like blessings
to all the peoples and powers of the earth.”

Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another;
love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; ... ~ 1st Peter 3:8

“By the blessings of heaven I mean to live and die,
please God, in the faith of my mother.”

For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord.
Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's. ~ Romans 14:8

“The path of progress is seldom smooth. New things are often
found hard to do. Our fathers found them so. We find them so.
But are we not made better for the effort and sacrifice?”

... "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is
made perfect in weakness." ... ~ 2nd Corinthians 12:9

Many human ideals transcend the ages of time for the shear
humanity of it. All desire peace from fear and life in love. There is no
national border on hearts as God gazes upon all souls tortured in the
flesh. It is the common ground revealing character of intent either be
they pursuits of nobility or wicked actions. Tests continue upon all in
the shadow vapors of our lives. Absent of God’s presence brings
about no good outcome, more than evident where lives’ live in the
midst of socially collapsing despair, mired in confusion lacking
purpose. God has graciously ordained His word for man to know,
and when people rise to honor and glorify His truths, sanctuaries
are established. Men of good will disclose these universal truths
enabling souls to rise, or at least delivering commonsense to the
thirsty. May hope lift our hearts to the stars of enlightenment
bosomed in faith where the timeless call to return remains.
His light glimmers on the horizon of our hopes.
