10/22/2006 ~ The Living and the Dead

And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, ...
~ Ephesians 2:1-10

One is created through something new.
New is to put off the old.
You were dead in trespasses.
                          └─> Dead in sin.

... put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication,
uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, ~ Colossians 3:5

      Kill the deeds of your flesh. <─┘

          ┌─> DEAD TO GOD.
  IN SIN     ─┐
                           ├┉ A SEPARATION.
          └─> ALIVE TO GOD.

But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
~ James 2:20

We need to be dead TO sin.
  • Dead people donít breathe.
  • Dead people donít talk.
  • Dead people donít eat.
  • Dead people donít drink.
  • Dead people decompose.
Spiritually, dead people donít have a relationship with God.

"... of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in
the day that you eat of it you shall surely die." ~ Genesis 2:16-17

"... I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself." ~ Genesis 3:9-15

~ They were afraid.
They had been severed from God.
Their relationship with God was dead.

Some say, "I sin and yet I live."

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows,
that he will also reap. ... ~ Galatians 6:7-8

... now works in the sons of disobedience, ... ~ Ephesians 2:2

If you are dead, live to appease the flesh, you are dead to God.

... lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind,
and were by nature children of wrath, ... ~ Ephesians 2:3

God is angry with worldliness without Him.
How does the United States show itself better than other nations?
Deceit, hate, violence, apathy, with corrupt morals,
~ where homosexuality is acceptable?

... even when we were dead in trespasses made us alive together with Christ
(by grace you have been saved), ... ~ Ephesians 2:4-5

└─> God simply wants to help us.      

God will forgive us with His Great Love.
Those who follow Him.

Lazarus had been dead and decomposing for four days. <─┐
... "Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory
of God?" ... ~ John 11:38-44

... "I am the resurrection and the life.
He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live." ~ John 11:25

- Dead in sin.                             
           └─> I can make you alive.
                 Dead to sin. <─┘

Jesus doesnít want us to go back to our old ways of sin.
Can we pronounce the sin in us dead?

                                                  ┌─> Jesus did not have a corruptible body.
For our citizenship is in heaven ... Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly
body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, ... ~ Philippians 3:20-21

We need to be alive in Christ.

... For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, ...
~ Ephesians 2:8-10

Are you dead or alive?
Be free transformed by the death of sin.
Replace sin with those things which Christ has given us through His word.

We need to eat the word of God
              └─> A sign of Life.
