2/17/2008           ~ If God Wants It,
                            Who Will Stand Against Him?

┌─> Holy Spirit endeared the Apostles with these.
... whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues,
they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.
~ 1st Corinthians 13:8

Some think these things:
  ● Prophecies
  ● Tongues
  ● Special Enabling Knowledge
... still exist.

They were manifest to bring us to know true love.

These three were the ultimate focus. <─┐

And now abide faith, hope, love, these three;
but the greatest of these is love. ~ 1st Corinthians 13:13

                                 └─> Love will never fail.

Gifts = Charisma

┌─> Peter awoke.
... "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ
for the remission of sins; ..." ~ Acts 2:38

Concerning these special gifts, who would get them?
                                └─> All that were touched.

... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing
to each one individually as He wills. ~ 1st Corinthians 12:11

└─> It is depending on the Spirit's will.

... love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely,
does not seek its own, is not provoked, ... ~ 1st Corinthians 13:4-7

└─> The message is away from self.

It is an empting of the self for the love of God.
It places a greater value on inner truth over that of outer image.

Tongues were not permanent but an avenue to achieve true peace
through heartfelt thought - of what should be simple for all.

... tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; ...
~ 1st Corinthians 14:21-22

Infancy State
of Christianity
= Miracles, Tongues, Prophesies,
Supernatural Knowledge

For we know in part and we prophesy in part. ~ 1st Corinthians 13:9
└─> Signs were shown to the children of the initial church.

But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part
will be done away. ... ~ 1st Corinthians 13:10-12

The fully grown perfect word has now been delivered to us.
THE BIBLE

A change in law took place. <─┐

... priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a change of the law.
... ~ Hebrews 7:11-14

The Jews tried to stop it.

God is the one who orchestrates His plan, not man.

"... the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath." ~ Mark 2:23-28
└─> The Son of Man can do anything He wants.

The law sets mercy over pride.

┌─> One point, fail in all.
... stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. ~ James 2:10

Jesus did not change or bend the rules;
He fulfilled the law, completed it, and ended it.
He came to wake us all to God’s own truth.

The message is not about self but about God. <─┐
... being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own
righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. ~ Romans 10:3

"... I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. ..." ~ Matthew 5:17-18

God did not change His will for His Son.
There are no exceptions, - God’s will, His truth, remains.
He came that we could see.

~ Jude 1:3-4

"He who is not with Me is against Me, ..." ~ Matthew 12:30

                                                                                  ┌─> Unbelieving babies.
Man tries to change God’s plan, such as baptizing unrepenting babies.

ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. ... ~ 2nd Timothy 2:15

We are asked to be participants
in what He taught alive as our divine God.

... I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man
and drink His blood, you have no life in you. ... ~ John 6:53-54

God calls us all to live as a part in the living Jesus.

"For He is not the God of the dead but of the living, for all live to Him."
~ Luke 20:38

~ To eat of His life and drink of His word.

... desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow ... ~ 1st Peter 2:1-3

... who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness,
for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, ...
~ Hebrews 5:12-14

PHYSICAL KINGDOM ≠ SPIRITUAL KINGDOM

Is it that we do not have to obey the same law and spirit?
Are your beliefs different from God’s plan?

● Speak not presumptuously.
● Speak the way of God.
● Speak the will of God.
● Speak the righteousness of God.
● Speak by the word of God.

Law of Moses was temporary.
Instrumental music in worship was temporary.
First century gifts were temporary.

"But the word of the Lord endures forever." ... ~ 1st Peter 1:25

The word of God is permanent.
