SERMON MENU SELECTIONS

4/19/2009 ~ Faith


... "This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God,
that the Son of God may be glorified through it." ~ John 11:1-37

... "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died." ~ John 11:21
Restricted the power of Jesus. <─┘     

~ Martha had limited faith.

Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
~ Matthew 13:58

~ Peter had limited faith.

"... I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him."
~ Matthew 17:14-16

... So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; ..." ~ Matthew 17:17-21

Jesus reprimanded His disciples for limited faith.

... "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day."
~ John 11:23-24

... "Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God,
who is to come into the world." ~ John 11:25-27

Martha believed in her religion, but not actively in Jesus.
Limited believers understand truths but lack unlimited faith.

Limited Faith ≠ Active Faith

... faith without works is dead ... ~ James 2:20-26

Obedience = Adhering to a System of Faith
~
1. Believe
2. Repent
3. Confess
4. Baptized
~
... we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ
was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, ... ~ Romans 6:4

God calls us to be new creatures in Him.

... "With men it is impossible, but not with God;
for with God all things are possible." ~ Mark 10:27

... "Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days." ...
~ John 11:38-40

Jesus challenged Martha to wholeheartedly believe.

... "Lazarus, come forth!" And he who had died came out ... ~ John 11:41-44

... only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. ... ~ Matthew 8:8-10
                       └─> The Centurian had unlimited faith.

Words without actions are meaningless.

... But without faith it is impossible to please Him,
for he who comes to God must believe that He is, ... ~ Hebrews 11:6

Unlimited Faith = Fully Developed Faith

Jesus wept. ~ John 11:35
                            └─> Because of their limited faith.

ARE YE OF LITTLE FAITH?
