How can one tell if what one has is genuine, the real article?

Untaught people will not be able to tell
the difference between real and fake.
~
One must study the genuine piece to
be able to tell between truth and lies.
~
Guides and or patterns have been established
to deliver unfailing and repeatable results.
~
One has to see or know reality to spot worthlessness.
It is authentic truth that is respected in all matters.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. ... ~ Hosea 4:6

We must cleave truth from that which has been given as truth.

... Moses was divinely instructed ... "See that you make all things
according to the pattern shown you on the mountain." ... ~ Hebrews 8:5-6

God's commands are clear enough for each individual to plainly understand.
Acceptance or rejection of His word is a matter of choice.
Humble or proud defines one’s pursuit of God or not.
  ↓
"Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but
now commands all men everywhere to repent, ..." ~ Acts 17:30

God through Jesus Christ chose Paul to show us the pattern He calls for.

... in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern
to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.
~ 1st Timothy 1:16

The (HIS) church has to follow the pattern Jesus Christ gave.

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been
given to Me in heaven and on the earth. ... ~ Matthew 28:18-20

His Glory is our inspiration.

And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. ~ Colossians 1:17

... He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; ...
~ John 16:13

 TRUTH

... He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
~ 1st John 2:3-6

"And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever
you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, ..." ~ Matthew 16:19

Peter was instructed directly by God for our benefit.
Paul was instructed directly by God for our benefit.

... acknowledge that the things which I write to you
are the commandments of the Lord. ~ 1st Corinthians 14:37

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction, in righteousness, ...
~ 2nd Timothy 3:16-17

ALL SCRIPTURE MAINTAINS UNITY.

We are of God. He who knows God hears us;
he who is not of God does not hear us. ... ~ 1st John 4:6

Open hearts allow God’s Own once delivered truth to be written there.

... which is not another; but there are some who trouble you
and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. ~ Galatians 1:7

Perverting the Gospel of Christ is troubling.

... which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction,
as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. ~ 2nd Peter 3:14-16

... if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than
what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. ~ Galatians 1:8

It is abundantly clear what each of us must do, Hear Him!

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine
and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. ~ Acts 2:42

For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: ...
~ 1st Corinthians 11:23

Brethren, join in following my example, and note those
who so walk, as you have us for a pattern. ~ Philippians 3:17

God’s genuine once delivered instructions are for all to assimilate.

Test all things; hold fast what is good. ~ 1st Thessalonians 5:21

One must diligently examine these things ...
... for one’s own self ... to be in fellowship with God.

... holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be
able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict.
~ Titus 1:9

Sound doctrine has been given to us by God.

... showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine
showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, sound speech ...
~ Titus 2:6-8

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.
~ Titus 2:11

... that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried
about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, ~ Ephesians 4:14

The truth is a serious matter and it is essential for each one of us
to examine the Bible to find out the reality of God’s doctrine.

... who will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach
everywhere in every church. ~ 1st Corinthians 4:17

What has been taught remains the same.
~ God has delivered unchangeable truth ~

... no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy
never came by the will of man, but holy men of God ... ~ 2nd Peter 1:20-21

... to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith
which was once for all delivered to the saints. ~ Jude 1:3

We are told these teachings of God have been once delivered.
So called “Progressive Revelation” is for those of deceiving spirits.

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of
your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God ... ~ Ephesians 4:4-6

God does not divide His own church.

For God is not the author of confusion but of peace,
as in all the churches of the saints. ~ 1st Corinthians 14:33

... do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are
of God; because many false prophets have gone out ... ~ 1st John 4:1

Common ground with God can only be found in God
→ through His once proclaimed Word, as it is in truth,   
His One True Way.

... "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship
in spirit and truth." ~ John 4:23-24

"Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which
the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God
which He purchased with His own blood." ~ Acts 20:28

God has told us what to do.

"... 'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with
their lips, But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.' " ~ Matthew 15:8-9

Do we choose the commandments of God or the commandments of men?

There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.
~ Proverbs 14:12

It is so sad to witness deceived souls.

" ' I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me,
you who practice lawlessness!' " ... ~ Matthew 7:21-23

LAWLESSNESS = DISOBEDIENCE

One can believe what one likes,
... but if it is not in line with the Gospel of Christ,
... doom is assured and there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Know God is detail oriented.

For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, ...
~ Romans 15:4

... Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the
oxen stumbled. ... and God struck him there for his error; and he died ...
~ 2nd Samuel 6:3-7

... they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die.~ Numbers 4:15

The God of the Old Testament has not changed
and still expects us to be obedient to His Word.
~
By this, we shall be judged.

"... the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day." ~ John 12:48

It is His once delivered church over any of our whims.
~ One needs to follow His truth.
... For true Salvation.  

... "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back,
is fit for the kingdom of God." ~ Luke 9:62

... he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. ...
~ Matthew 10:37-39

"And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
~ John 8:32

It is more important than any other relationship one has.

One's Eternity is based on the truth.
