12/21/2008 ~ The Lord is Coming


"... This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so
come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven." ~ Acts 1:9-11

Extremes:
● GOD IS COMING BACK
● GOD IS DEAD, GET OVER IT

┌─> A Day of the Lord.    
... know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.
... ~ 1st Thessalonians 5:1-3

... He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.
~ Hebrews 9:27-28

Ready or not, here I come.

Then the dust will return to the earth as it was,
And the spirit will return to God who gave it. ~ Ecclesiastes 12:7

God has the plan for the continuation of life.
Do you have a plan to serve God in preparation for His coming?
- His Judgment will Seal the Fate of us All.

... the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice
of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. ... ~ 1st Thessalonians 4:13-18

The Bible is Clear:
1) JESUS IS COMING
2) JESUS IS COMING AGAIN 		~ OLD TESTAMENT
~ NEW TESTAMENT

"But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven,
but My Father only. ..." ~ Matthew 24:36-39

"... of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven,
nor the Son, but only the Father. ..." ~ Mark 13:31-33

"Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming
at an hour you do not expect." ~ Matthew 24:44

~ No man knoweth.

... the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, ~ 2nd Peter 3:10-13

~ Be ready.
Are you awake in your faith?

┌─> Blessed are these that are ready.                                 
"... Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour
in which the Son of Man is coming." ~ Matthew 25:1-13

~ One must wait on the Lord.

... if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you
will not know what hour I will come upon you. ~ Revelation 3:3

Who would desire the deepest of separations a heart could ever know?
This Greatest Day will come in the midst of our human commotions.
→ A resurrection is coming for ALL.
A Day is coming ...

"... also in the days of the Son of Man: They ate, they drank, they married
wives, they were given in marriage, until the day ..." ~ Luke 17:24-29

... all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth ...
~ John 5:28-29

No one will be able to avoid this.

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. ~ Psalm 42:2

A Living God made us.
/  |  \        
But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave,
For He shall receive me. Selah. ~ Psalm 49:15

From the dust God will spiritually raise them.

... of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to
everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt. ~ Daniel 12:2

... And the dead in Christ will rise first. ~ 1st Thessalonians 4:15-16

1. Dead in Christ will be raised
2. Those left alive will be with Him always

"... those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who
have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. ..." ~ John 5:21-30

... there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust. ...
~ Acts 24:15-16

And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power.
~ 1st Corinthians 6:14

Do you want to share in the Glory of God?

But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day
should overtake you as a thief. ... ~ 1st Thessalonians 5:4-11

If you are a stranger to God,
~ you will be a stranger at the Day of Judgment.
● One needs to prepare by learning about God ○
→ The time will come when there will be no more time.

But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith
and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. ~ 1st Thessalonians 5:8

Walk worthy of the calling.
The Lord rings at the door for you, do you hear?

... may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless
at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. ~ 1st Thessalonians 5:12-28

When Christ who is our life appears,
then you also will appear with Him in glory. ~ Colossians 3:4

... sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves
but in God who raises the dead, ... ~ 2nd Corinthians 1:9

We are confronted with calamity … too our despair.

"... can these bones live?" So I answered, "O Lord God, You know."
~ Ezekiel 37:3

~ We must die to live.

... There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
~ 1st Corinthians 15:35-44

... if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away;
... ~ 2nd Corinthians 5:17

Indisputably, the Day of the Lord is coming.
His commands and instruction lay before us.
ARE YOU ADJUSTING YOUR DAYS TO MEET HIM?
~ IT IS A MATTER OF LIFE OR DEATH.
YOURS.
