                   Ten Commandments?

And God spoke all these words, saying: "I am the LORD your God, ...
~ Exodus 20:1-17

Do you have time to consider these Commandments further?

"So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform,
the Ten Commandments; ..." ~ Deuteronomy 4:13

  1. No Other Gods
  2. No Graven Image Worshipped
  3. Not Take the Name of God in Vain
  4. Keep the Sabbath
  5. Honor Father and Mother
  6. Not Kill
  7. No Adultery
  8. Not Steal
  9. Not Bear False Witness
  10. Not Covet

Which ones do you agree with?

The Jews had many laws given by God, dietary, health,
marriage, priestly, clothing, etc., in all the details, 613 laws.

"... stone him to death with stones; ..." ~ Deuteronomy 21:18-21
└─> Many laws resulted in capital punishment.

... observe to do according to all the law ... ~ Joshua 1:7
They were expected to keep all the law. <─┘

... whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point,
he is guilty of all. ... ~ James 2:8-13

These Ten Commandments were part of the old covenant.
The Law was shown pointing out all as falling devotionally short.

The ultimate law of God is life-giving. <─┘

God has made it clear what He wants us to work on.

9. You shall not bear false witness.
8. You shall not steal.
7. shall not commit adultery.
6. You shall not murder.

... love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. ...
~ Romans 13:8-14

~ His consequences are also clear.

"... all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire
and brimstone, which is the second death." ~ Revelation 21:8

→ He wants us to genuinely pursue self control,
~ along with outward honesty as well as inward.

┌─> Inwardly lusting, including window shopping in one’s own mind.

"... whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed
adultery with her in his heart." ~ Matthew 5:27.28

Adultery has always been one of the greatest sins.

... in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. ... ~ John 8:3-7

People are hateful and deceptive.
~ If you hate someone, you don't agree with God.

5. Honor your Father and Mother.

We are asked to honor others.

Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, ...
~ 1st Timothy 5:1-2

In just these previous six civil commands,
the world is still in great conflict with God.

The New Testament does not specify to observe the the Sabbath day.

... sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come,
but the substance is of Christ. ~ Colossians 2:11-17

... he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works
as God did from His. ... ~ Hebrews 4:9-11

... "The Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath." ... ~ Luke 6:5-11

  Christ is our Sabbath; "Rest"

So many people want the Sabbath but ignore the other commandments.

1 "You shall have no other gods before Me." ~ Exodus 20:3
... turn from these useless things to the living God, ... ~ Acts 14:15

Many understand that cursing with G.D. or J.C. is rampant
among our civilization.

More to the point for the rising faithful,
- don’t rubber stamp God and not show respect to His name by overuse.

3. Not Take the Name of God in Vain.

How is it man looks to the tangible for the intangible?

... two calves of gold, and said to the people, "It is too much for you to go
up to Jerusalem. Here are your gods, O Israel, ..."~ 1st Kings 12:26-29

Amazing defiance. <─┘

2. No Graven Image Worshipped.

... which is the great commandment in the law?" Jesus said to him, ...
~ Matthew 22:34-40

God wants us more than a check list, 1, 2, 3, ... your heart.
The bottom line is do you agree with God?
                       ⭦ ↑ ⭧
It is the inside over the outside.
